The Alaska Fisheries Development Foundation (AFDF) is soliciting proposals from laboratories to conduct a seaweed tissue analysis on a variety of seaweeds in order to better understand the composition and potential uses of a variety of Alaska species. Through this competitive RFP process, AFDF will select a laboratory to conduct this analysis. Findings and data from this will be compiled and distributed to the public, ensuring benefits are available to all current or future industry participants, and the public in general. Alaska Mariculture Economic Research Services RFP

Southeast Conference is soliciting proposals for economic research services in service of the goals of the Alaska Mariculture Cluster (AMC). The three-year contract will provide an important resource by tracking the industry’s size and scope throughout the period of the AMC grant. Publicly available economic data and analysis will be useful to those overseeing the AMC grant, applying to RFPs and grant opportunities, building and investing in businesses, and communicating about the industry, among others. Other Mariculture Species RFP

Southeast Conference is soliciting proposals from individuals, companies, or organizations, as part of the Alaska Mariculture Cluster (AMC) program, to conduct applied research and development projects around methods for cultivating new mariculture species. Proposals are sought for research and development projects that advance our understanding of key questions related to the viability of “other species” for commercial, restoration, and/or enhancement uses, including enhancement of subsistence resources. Funding is secured through the AMC Equipment & Technology component of the BBBRC. Proposals may be funded up to $150,000 for a project period of up to 18-months. Download full RFP Here.

AMC Equipment RFP

Southeast Conference is soliciting pre-proposals from eligible entities for the purchase of equipment to support a variety of mariculture operations including processing, nursery, and hatchery development. Selected pre-proposals will be invited to submit a full proposal. The pre-proposal process is intended to reduce the burden of preparing full proposals that do not score highly at this time and are in need of additional development. Pre-proposals that do not advance at this time will be encouraged to continue working on their project and resubmit to future AMC Equipment RFPs to be issued in 2024 and 2025. Mariculture Processing Feasibility Studies RFP

Southeast Conference is soliciting proposals for mariculture processing feasibility studies. These studies can address a variety of topics, including supply/demand assessment, assessment of existing or underutilized infrastructure, architectural/engineering services to support capital and operations cost estimation, financial feasibility studies, and/or operations planning. Projects must be working toward the operation, construction, or renovation/expansion of mariculture processing, handling, and/or storage facilities in Alaska. Proposals should support multiple users and address regional needs in a coordinated fashion, and must be coordinated with Alaska Native or Tribal entities. Download the full RFQ here. 

2024 Mariculture Conference of Alaska RFQ

The Alaska Fisheries Development Foundation (AFDF) is soliciting quotes from businesses with experience coordinating conferences or other events in Alaska to coordinate the 2024 Mariculture Conference of Alaska in Anchorage February 27-29, 2024. The annual conference supports information exchange between coalition members and offers a venue to share outcomes and findings from AMC funded activities. The event will also include training sessions, seminars, and networking opportunities. The conference will be open to the public or those individuals interested in getting involved or are currently involved in the industry. Alaska Mariculture Cluster Market Research RFQ

Southeast Conference (SEC) is inviting qualified agencies to provide market research services for the mariculture industry in Alaska.  The research will provide resources that inform product development efforts by various industry players as well as guide industry-wide mariculture marketing program development.  The overall goal of the Alaska Mariculture Cluster’s marketing component project is to unlock industry growth potential through increased demand for Alaska mariculture products.  The market research contractor(s) selected will work with Alaska Mariculture Cluster marketing stakeholders to prioritize and conduct market research projects.  Multiple contractors may be selected to ensure the ability to engage in a broad range of projects. Currently, Alaska’s mariculture production is dominated by oysters and kelp sold into food-related markets and to a lesser extent cosmetics and other markets.  Click here for the full RFQ

Alaska Mariculture Cluster Grant Evaluator RFP

Southeast Conference (SEC) is inviting proposals to provide grant evaluation services related to a large Alaska Mariculture Cluster (AMC) grant. The evaluator will advise SEC staff and AMC coalition members in creating effective metrics, measuring impacts against these metrics, and providing recommendations for improvement. A key goal of the AMC grant is to ensure that program impacts are equitably distributed, with a specified goal of at least 25% of grant impacts targeting Alaska Native and 25% to underserved communities in Alaska. Mariculture Joint Innovation Projects

AFDF is soliciting proposals from individuals, companies, or organizations, as part of a new program designed to accelerate innovation in the Alaska mariculture industry by funding applied research and development projects which address barriers to growth in Alaska’s mariculture industry. Through this competitive RFP process, AFDF will select, and fund Joint Innovation Projects proposed by businesses (hatcheries/nurseries, aquatic farmers, processors, technology companies), or other eligible organizations. Findings and data from these projects will be compiled into reports and distributed to the public, ensuring benefits are available to all current or future industry participants, and the public in general.

Selected proposals will be funded for a timeline of up to 18-month projects. Start dates must be between July 1 to December 31, 2023. The number of projects funded and award amount will depend on the quantity and quality of proposals received. Proposals may only request funding up to $100,000.
